Late Start Labor Day + Sunrise Yoga Starts this Week + New Moon on September 02, 2024

Late Start Labor Day

Practice is still on, but aim to come in a little later. No reason to be up too early unless we have to.

Sunrise Yoga Starts Tuesday

We’re thrilled to announce that Sunrise Yoga classes are kicking off this week! Join us early in the morning as we greet the day with intention and energy. This class is designed to awaken the body and mind, setting a positive tone for the rest of your day.

Class Details:

  • When: 6:30am-7:15
  • Where: 14th Street Room

In our Sunrise Yoga sessions, you can expect a gentle yet invigorating flow that incorporates breathwork and mindfulness, helping you connect with your inner self as you rise with the sun. It’s a wonderful opportunity to cultivate a sense of peace and gratitude before the day begins.

For those familiar with Ashtanga, it’s going to be khabalabhati breathing, followed by Surya namaskar a & b, standing asana, and we will carry on depending on attendance. Practitioners are welcome to exit at any time and head into the Mysore room. The final ten minutes will be meditation.

For more insights on Kabalabhati and the significance of the sun salutations in the Ashtanga practice, check out the articles on Ashtanga Tech: Kabalabhati Breathing and Surya Namaskar.

Whether you’re an experienced yogi or new to the practice, everyone is welcome to join. We encourage you to bring your mat, a water bottle, and an open heart.

We can’t wait to share this beautiful experience with you and witness the magic of our community coming together at sunrise.

See you on the mat!

Exploring Bodyweight Transitions: Insights from a Recent Workshop

We’re excited to highlight the recent Bodyweight Transitions workshop led by MJH at Ashtanga Tech. This workshop provided valuable insights into the art of transitioning between poses, emphasizing the significance of body awareness and control in movement.

Participants engaged in a variety of exercises designed to explore how to navigate seamlessly from one pose to another while maintaining balance and alignment.

One key takeaway from the workshop was the emphasis on weight shifts and grounding, which are crucial for executing smooth transitions. By concentrating on the core and understanding how to manage progressions and regressions, practitioners can enhance their transitions, making them more fluid and intentional.

The workshop also featured creative transition sequences that allowed participants to explore different movement patterns and find their unique flow. Attendees left feeling empowered to incorporate these techniques into their regular practice, enriching their experience on the mat.

If you missed the workshop, be sure to check out Ashtanga Tech’s Bodyweight Transitions course here. This course offers a comprehensive look at transitioning techniques and provides an opportunity to deepen your practice.
