The Staircase, Not the Wall

Anyone can preach consistency. Instead I built it: one pose added each week, deep-linked to a Practice Recorder that logs what you actually did β€” and that you actually own.

πŸ•‰οΈ KEY CONCEPTS

Bakasana
Crane pose β€” the compounding target the Full Primary track builds toward, one logged week at a time.
Pincha Mayurasana
Feathered-peacock forearm balance β€” the destination of the standing-only progression.
Vinyasa
The breath-linked ordering system β€” the reason poses are added in sequence, not at random.
Abhyasa
Sustained, deliberate practice over time β€” the whole premise of adding one tracked increment a week.

The slop version of learning a series is everywhere: a fifty-minute video that dumps the whole sequence on you, a laminated sheet of sixty poses, an algorithm that autoplays the next thing. You bounce off the wall of it, blame your discipline, and quietly stop. The problem was never your discipline. It was the dose β€” and nobody built you a tool that respected it.

Every skill worth having is learned by progressive overload. You don’t deadlift your bodyweight on day one; you don’t learn a language by swallowing the dictionary. You add one increment, let it settle, add the next. Yoga is a system like any other, and systems are learned in order, not in bulk.

I could have written that as a post β€” start small, stay consistent β€” and called it wisdom. Everyone writes that post. I didn’t want to be one more person who says he values slow, self-owned practice, so I built the thing that enforces it. Build Your Practice is progressive overload turned into running software: one pose is added each week, and the sequence grows with you instead of landing on top of you. The product is the argument.

Here is what you actually get. Foundation & Standing Sequence sets the floor. Primary Series compounds week over week toward Bakasana, while a standing-only track builds quietly toward Pincha. From there the arc opens into Second and Third Series for those who’ve earned the room. Sixty-nine lessons across five sections β€” never more than you can integrate, never less than you’re ready for.

Now the part that makes it a tool instead of a playlist. Every lesson deep-links a Practice Recorder keyed to your exact week β€” ?week=N β€” so you log what you actually did, not what you meant to do. Progressive overload only works when the load is tracked; otherwise you’re guessing, and we don’t guess here β€” we assess. That’s the difference between a practice and a vibe. One is a system with a memory. The other evaporates by Thursday.

And the record is yours. Not a mood app renting you a streak, not a feed harvesting your attention β€” a self-owned platform where your practice data lives in your own garden, not Meta’s. See how it’s built if you want to look under the hood. That is the receipt: talk is cheap, so here is the infrastructure.

The full arc lives here, inside the Ashtanga Tech membership. Add one pose. Log it. Come back next week for the next one. That’s the whole method β€” and it compounds.
