Don’t Guess. Assess.

“Don’t guess, assess” is a data thesis. We turned every posture into a diagnostic you can actually read β€” joint by joint, no guru required.

πŸ•‰οΈ KEY CONCEPTS

Svadhyaya
Self-study β€” here made literal: the body read as an instrument, joint by joint
Functional Range
The arc of motion you actively control β€” the number the assessment actually measures
Sthira Sukham
Steady and at ease β€” the two conditions a joint must pass before you load it
Proprioception
Your sense of where a joint is in space β€” the signal instrumented assessment sharpens

Don’t guess. Assess. That’s not a mantra β€” it’s a data thesis. Every posture you take is already running a test on you: where you’re stiff, where you’re unstable, where the breath collapses under load. The test runs whether you read the results or not, and most people never do. They copy a shape, feel a vague strain, file it under “I’m just not flexible,” and call that self-knowledge. It isn’t. It’s a shrug β€” and you can’t train a shrug.

The problem under the problem: you don’t actually know what to work on. Not because the answer is hidden, but because nobody handed you the instrument to read it. The wellness industry won’t β€” it sells mystical cueing, one-size flows, and a feed of strangers doing poses you’ll never diagnose. That’s slop, engineered to keep you consuming instead of literate in your own body.

So I ran the audit on myself: what do I actually value? That you should be able to read your own body β€” that assessment beats dogma, and nobody should have to phone a guru to find out whether they’re okay. I could have posted that. Instead I built the thing that proves I mean it. The Self-Assessment is engineered assessment tooling that turns each posture into a readable diagnostic. It moves joint by joint β€” Spine, Shoulders, Hips, then out through the Upper and Lower Extremities β€” teaching you to use each shape to expose an inefficiency AND address it. A dedicated Breathing section treats breath as a trainable capacity with a measurable ceiling, not a mood.

Here’s the part the apps can’t touch: it’s instrumented. Log what you actually did with the Practice Recorder and your assessments become a trend line instead of a vibe β€” data you own, on a platform you own, in your OWN garden, not rented back to you by Meta or some subscription that vanishes when the startup folds. That’s the walk, not the talk: real tools, not slop. The building is the argument.

Once a shape becomes a measurement, the practice changes character. You stop chasing someone else’s range and start reading your own; a posture that felt like failure becomes a data point with a plan attached. The full diagnostic lives here, inside the Ashtanga Tech membership that unlocks the whole library. Come read your own joints for once. β€” Michael
