Functional Advanced
Sixteen weeks inside Sthira Bhaga — Advanced A, posture by posture, as joint demands rather than shapes.
Divine stability. Side balances, lotus presses, leg behind head standing up, and backbends that arrive with a leg behind the head. The least forgiving series in the method, and the most obviously built out of the two below it.
The arc
- The Side Plank and Standing Leg Behind Head — weeks 1–4
- Lotus Presses and Arm Balances — weeks 5–9
- Deep Twist and the Crux — weeks 10–12
- Inverted Backbends, Splits and Integration — weeks 13–16
What you get
- Sixteen sessions — workshop format. We take the week’s material apart, build it back up, and put it in the count.
- The Functional Advanced course on Ashtanga Tech — a page per week, yours to keep. See the course
- Eighteen letters — one each week, plus a welcome and a closing letter.
- An FRC joint-prep layer for the hardest demand of each week.
- The workbook, and a mid-term self-practice checkpoint.
- Your Life Is Art — the book, yours to keep.
The book
Your Life Is Art comes with this program — the widest frame in the collection. Practice as a way of making a life rather than a body. The right book for Third Series, where the postures stop being the point.
What runs through every session
The count — taught first, asana second. Tristana — breath, bandha, drishti. Most Viable Posture — every shape is a spectrum, not a target; you work the version you can breathe in today, through four lanes: Therapeutic, Restorative, Maintenance and Challenge. Challenge means more load, more time, less support — not more depth.
Three rules
Don’t hurt yourself. Be honest. Try to have a good time. In that order.
